CanRoots East is being pulled together by a small group of organizers.
Sabrina Bowman - Sabrina is the Climate Campaign Organizer for Environmental Defence, meaning she spends a lot of time talking to and mobilizing people across Ontario regarding the TransCanada Energy East pipeline proposal. She grew up in Toronto, and has been involved in working on myriad issues from environment to cycling to international health. She’s happiest when cooking, dancing, cycling, discussing politics, and laughing with friends and family, and is honoured and excited to be a part of the Canroots East planning team.
Graham Mitchell - Graham is the Director of Training and Leadership at the Broadbent Institute. Originally from Saskatchewan, Graham has worked as Executive Assistant to Toronto City Councillors Jack Layton and Janet Davis, and Research Officer with the Ontario NDP. He has a Masters in Environmental Studies (Urban Planning) from York University, and recently completed a two-year stint as a manager in the Toronto Public Service. Graham lives in Toronto with his partner and two sons.
Lindsay Telfer - Lindsay is the National Project Director with the Canadian Freshwater Alliance. She began organizing on campuses before running the Prairie Chapter of the Sierra Club out of Edmonton. Lindsay lives with her partner and two kids in Orillia.
Matt Price - Matt has worked for a range of NGOs, mostly in the environmental sector across Canada. He studies and writes about organizing, including this paper. Matt helped organize the first CanRoots gathering in Vancouver. He is also the only vegetarian sheep farmer in the Cowichan Valley.
